The Town of South Padre Island was incorporated on April 10, 1973, and this year mark's the Island's 35th birthday. To recognize and celebrate the significant growth the Island has seen for the last 35 years, the Board of Aldermen tasked the newly created Historic Preservation Committee with planning an event to celebrate our birthday. The Historic Preservation Committee formed a subcommittee of volunteers to plan the event. The committee meets weekly, and a four-day event was agreed upon - April 10-13, 2008 - to commemorate this historic anniversary.
